About

Hi, I’m Erik

These are some keywords that describe me, it’s filler until I come up with something better; Creative, Wannabe Guerrilla Urbanist, Cyclist, Climate Activist, Vegetarian, Fabricator, Problem Solver

Talking about art

I’ve been forging steel, copper and aluminium off and on since 2017. Sometimes participating in pop up markets and occasionally performing commission work. It’s one of the interests I’ve held onto for the longest and one of the most practical ones at that. I’ve made sculptures, but my bread and butter has been small household items like hooks and candle holders. I’ve also forged a fair amount of knives and tools. I learnt how to ”weld” through watching copious quantities of welding videos on YouTube along with a fair amount of trial and error. I’ve gotten to the point where I can lay down decent looking welds with a stick welder, but I wouldn’t call myself a professional welder. From what I’ve seen, I’m better than your average farmer.

In the world of paint I graduated from sloppily painting EVA foam and Worbla props to first expressing myself on canvas back in 2020. I carried over my acrylics but got tired of paint drying on my palette, so I eventually switched to oil. I don’t produce many paintings, but I enjoy the process and love the way it allows me to fill my home with colour.

After getting started making cosplay in my early teens I got used to sewing my own clothing, a practice I’ve been reexploring as an adult harbouring an ever growing frustration at the dropping overall quality of clothing items. Surely something we’ve all experienced. A lot of the time you simply can’t fix new clothing because the material itself is what’s coming apart, not the seams. It’s deeply irritating and makes me just not want to buy new clothes, so I sew what I can and get better at it each go.

The way I see it I’m lucky to have been able to take part in so many art-forms and crafts. It’s lead to me feeling like I can handle a wide variety of problems and have made me a more independent person.
