WAAAGH!
I’m working on a stompa my partner got me for my birthday. 😇
It’s definitely an older kit, the first large plastic kit Games Workshop ever released if I’m getting this story straight.
Released in 2007, the stompa sprue has massive gates and really obvious mouldlines that are a complete pain to remove. While I can’t say I struggled with putting it together, the poorly illustrated instruction manual is infamous among Ork collectors for being difficult to follow and lacking part numbers. As an example, the large power cable that connects to the back of the supa gatling gun appears to be missing on many stompas I see online.
All of the struggle is worth it however when you see the final product!

Towering above other miniatures, the stompa captures the spirit of a scrap gargant. A walking platform bristling with guns, yet at the same time looking like something that’d fall apart after firing the first volley.
Let’s paint it 😃

Airbrushing, drybrushing, sponging, freehand, oil washes and effect paints.
First time painting a mural like this and I’d say it came out quite nice! The uneven surface was an additional challenge, but a welcome one as I think it adds a lot to the miniature. It’s good practice for painting artwork on imperial knights later this year as well.
I’m not a big fan of checkers but the orks sure are, all large scale Evil Sunz logo depictions I’ve seen seem to have them so this one definitely needed one too. While looking around for inspiration I found a beautiful resin depiction of the Evil Sunz sun on which I based my work. I don’t know if Evil-Games-Shop.de is the original artist but that’s where I found the item for sale. Check them out! 😃
