Upgradable laptop?!

I bought a Framework 13 😄

Had it delivered about three months ago and it’s been pretty smooth sailing so far. Most of my issues seem to stem from Windows 11 being a buggy mess of an operating system. Might be time to dual boot linux for a while and finally make the switch.

Every part of this laptop is replaceable and available to purchase from Framework. They even include spare screws that live inside the chassis incase you lose any during service.

The price is a bit premium for the build quality, but that changes the moment something breaks since spare parts are cheap and easy to swap yourself.

I won’t have to buy an entirely new computer when this one gets slow either, just drop in a new motherboard and reuse the old one as a NAS/office pc or simply sell it to someone who needs something less performant.

It doesn’t officially support magsafe (it has been implemented by end users) but I’m not scared of accidentally janking a cable and damaging a port, since they’re all replaceable for as little as 11 euro. The ports are modular and lock into the chassis with a latch.

I like the keyboard, trackpad feels ok, and the aspect ratio and overall size of the computer are great!

The taller screen is nice for content creation and web browsing, while the size of the chassis is small enough to fit into my 10L Snigel Multipurpose EDC bag.

We’ll see how it holds up in the long run!
