I blame YouTube

In a previous post I mentioned my YT recommendations turning into a non stop Warhammer feed.

It looked fun, so I bought one small model to try it out for myself.

I chose Orks, the Mad Maxy, fun loving faction of kitbashing and convertions.

They seemed like a fun and forgiving beginner faction where everything doesn’t have to turn out perfect and a dorky looking badly painted ork is a completely legitimate and lore accurate ork. 😂

My first ork! The Warboss In Mega Armour
Orky McOrkface

To someone like me who never got into model kits, it was really impressive to see the level of sculpting Games Workshop put into this guy. It looks amazing all around and there are so many tiny details that I didn’t notice in the product photos. 😧

Uge Choppa!

I like how the designers tried to keep these really out there design decisions somewhat grounded by adding these belts, pulleys, driveshafts, and motors to make it look like the sawblade axe actually has some chance at running under its own power.

I think I’ll take my time figuring out a suitable paintjob for this warboss. There happens to be an ork klan called freebooters who are essentially the space pirates of the setting and are composed of orks from all other klans. That feels very up my alley and gives me a good reason to do my orks up in all manner of different colours. 😃

Cheers!
