Despite the winter solstice having occurred about a month ago, it’s still pitch black outside by four. I have taken to wearing a reflective harness to feel a bit safer while walking my dog. It goes a long way, but can only do so much the times I choose to wear a backpack. 😐 I’ve decided to do something about that.
I like a good tactical backpack. All three(!!!) of my EDC bags are covered in PALS webbing, it makes it really easy to attach new gizmos to them. So I came up with something that could go on there to help with visibility.

This is what I came up with, a nylon strap with reflective fabric, and some hook and loop. Simple and easy to make. At 44 centimeters it’s long enough to securely loop around four PALS rows and can even double as a handle. 😃

It’s also a suitable size to wrap around the wrist or ankle, which is especially useful since reflectors worn on moving body parts are more likely to be perceived by drivers than the relatively static reflectors worn on the torso. I’ve included some measurements if you want to have a go at making your own.
Reflective fabric: 35x3cm
(Edges folded in 5mm on each side)
Nylon webbing: 44x2cm
Velcro hook: 10x2cm
Velcro loop: 11,5x2cm
